31 July – 2 August
Bristol Harbour Festival

Brunel’s ss Great Britain & Queen Square

Bristol's liveliest and largest Harbourside event features a wide range of entertainment, including music stages, dance stage, street theatre, all taking place before a backdrop of hundreds of colourful vessels in the floating harbour throughout the weekend.

 

6 – 9 August
The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta

Ashton Court Estate

A world-class four day event including mass launches of over 100 hot air balloons 6am and 6pm daily, over 250 trade stands, arena and aerial entertainments! Be sure to catch one of the two night glows where over 30 balloons light up the night sky in time to music with a fireworks finale and a performance of Red Arrows.

Banksy vs Bristol Museum

Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery

Banksy, the world-renowned graffiti artist made famous by his controversial street art paintings, has returned to his hometown of Bristol to hold an official exhibition of his work. Free entry. Don’t miss it!

Festival of the Tree

Westonbirt Arboretum

Sculptree - watch throughout the week as twelve world-class wood sculptors transform tree trunks into stunning art forms. Woodcraft exhibition starting 28 August with stands selling tools and wonderful wood products.

Explore-At-Bristol

The interactive exhibition has been developed in association with Aardman Animations. Create your own animations and broadcast them via a new interactive website. Also see the set from Aardman’s latest Wallace & Gromit animation, A Matter of Loaf and Death.

Summer Family Activities

Fleet Air Arm Museum

Every week day through the summer holidays there is something extra at the Museum from Family Trails which take place everyday to special workshops in which the whole family can take part in.

 

5 August
Rhymetime

Bristol Zoo Gardens

Sit in a friendly circle on the floor and sing along to many favourite nursery rhymes and songs. Children join in with the actions using the musical instruments provided.

Scooby-Doo and the Pirate Ghost

A heart-warming rags-to-riches story of Annie’s adventures, from the New York orphanage to the luxurious home of Oliver Warbucks.

Minibeast Magic (Children’s event)

Focus is on the varied habitats and amazing plant diversity that Darwin encountered on his five year voyage aboard the Beagle.

The tour will highlight his studies of plant adaptations to the environment and plant reproductive biology.
